Come on Inner Peace! I’m Waiting

Updated: Jul 31

Where is my inner peace?
Where is my inner peace?

I'd been standing at the "spiritual" bus stop for what feels like an eternity, holding my little sign that said "Welcome, Inner Peace!"

Some days I thought I heard it coming. Other days, I was convinced it took a wrong turn and ended up at someone else's house.

I feel like we're all taught to chase peace like it's at the finish line of a productivity marathon.

  • Finish the project.

  • Get through the week.

  • Answer all the emails.

That's when I'll be able to rest and feel that calm I've been looking for.

But here's the thing: Peace isn't hiding on the other side of our to-do list. It's tucked inside the tiniest, most ordinary moments. The kind of moments we often rush right through.

I used to think I deserved peace. That is came with achievements, checked boxes, or a "good girl" bold star.

But peace didn't care how many things I had crossed off my list. It showed up when I decided to slow down. To breathe, to notice the beauty, to let myself "be" instead of constantly "doing".

Now peace looks different. Sometimes it may look like:

  • Saying no to things that drain me.

  • Letting the dishes wait while I step outside to was a sunset.

  • Putting my hand on my heart and whispering, "You're doing enough."

So if you've been waiting for peace to arrive, I get it. I've been there checking the front porch like it's a lost Amazon package.

But maybe it's not running late. Maybe you just need to slow down a little and look around. Maybe peace is already there.

Much love to all,

Ruthie
