This was the night we headed to 3 Dives for the best jerk chicken (or lobster or pork) I have ever tasted. But first, we had a full day of relaxing and playing in the sun!
We started our morning with coffee on the deck. What a way to start a day. The main thing on the agenda was to get a massage booked. We got that taken care of right away. Next up, playing in the ocean. There was jumping, snorkeling and relaxing in the water. We took lots of photos and got some video of some of our group jumping. I was not one of them! I am quite happy just walking into the water.
We spent the entire morning just relaxing (there seems to have been a “relaxing” theme going on here) until it was time for Jim and I to go gt our massage. Getting a massage in an open aired hut on the ocean is one of the best things in life. You can hear the waves coming in and smell the ocean. You lie on the table listening to the sounds of Jamaica and wondering what could be any better. Sixty minutes later we were like putty.
We went to the pool afterward and hung out in one of the cabanas. We met a really nice couple from Minnesota. We talked with them for a while, had a drink, jumped in the pool and then it was time for sunset. We all got together as a group and the couple from Minnesota joined us. It was a stunning sunset.
Now it’s time for the good stuff. Jerk Chicken! We all get cleaned up and were ready to go! We decided to walk there instead of grabbing a cab. The walk is probably a mile so not bad at all. There were eight of us (the six of us plus the couple from Minnesota). Since the roads were very narrow we walked single file most of the way. It was an uneven rocky road with cars zipping by constantly. As I was trying to hurry to the next wide spot in the road, I tripped. And fell. Hard. Jim and I were bringing up the rear so the only people that saw what happened were the two in front of us. Thank goodness. I was so embarrassed. And in pain! I jumped up immediately and continued walking but man that hurt!
3 Dives is one of those places that you would probably only visit if you had received a recommendation. It’s basically a small building with a few picnic tables and some outside grills. But the smells……. you can smell them from blocks away. They grill everything outdoors so you can watch your food cooking from the picnic table you are sitting at. I reminds me of a backyard barbecue with a bunch of friends. You place your order at a little counter and then you take your drink to the table and wait for your food. It was an amazing atmosphere. We talked and laughed as we somewhat patiently waited for our food. When it arrived everyone was amazed. Two of the couples had never been there and they were quite surprised with the amount of food. We had been there before and knew we would be stuffed when we left. As everyone began eating, the table was silent. The only sounds you could hear were the sounds of the silverware. We passed the Granny Sauce around for everyone to try. Granny Sauce is this amazing hot sauce, barbecue sauce type mixture that is addicting. I couldn’t get enough.
We were probably there for two hours just enjoying life. We were all stuffed. The thought of walking back wasn’t popular so we grabbed a cab and headed back home. Once we were back at Tensing Pen we stopped and had a nightcap with Razor. Razor is this amazing bartender that everyone just loves. He is funny and pours a great drink.
Yet another wonderful ending to another wonderful day!
