Just another yard sale...

Just Another Yard Sale
Yesterday was yard sale day. Our neighborhood has them twice a year and they are quite the event. People cook and sell breakfast, people play music, neighbors catch up. The weather was absolutely perfect.
But it's still just a yard sale. You know how it goes. Wake up before daylight. Start putting tables up everywhere. Put all the "stuff" on the tables. Then move it all around because you don't like how you have it organized. Then laugh and ask ourselves why we ever bought some of the things that we were looking at.
Then there are the people. People stop by to shop before the yard sale even begins. Everyone looking for the early deal. Parts of it are so much fun though. Neighbors stop by to catch up. People from other neighborhoods stop by and you get to have some really fun conversations. Kids are laughing and playing begging their mom or dad to let them buy the stuffed dinasour or the bird feeder they simply must have.
And of course there are the people asking if we'd take $2 for something marked $3.
And at the end, because we really wanted things GONE, we started putting more and more stuff on the FREE table. We had put a big FREE sign out by the mailbox. Actually it said "lot of FREE stuff" but untill you got up close, all you could see was the FREE portion.
While we were there hard at work, we looked up to see a fire truck pull up in front of the house. That kind of got our attention. We found that there had been a medical in the neighborhood they were helping with. It only took a few minutes to realize the fire truck was parked in front of the FREE sign.
For one brief moment, it looked like our yard sale had gotten wildly out of hand.
"Yes, the books are $1, the kitchen stuff is half price, and apparently we're giving away a fire truck."
We were trying to downsize, but even for us, this felt ambitious. 😂
Yard sale lesson of the day:Always check what's parked behind your signs.
In all honesty, the hard work was well worth it. We had a great day and accomplished a good amount of downsizing while chatting with friends old and new.
