Postcards from Bali - Goodbye, Bali!

After 35 hours traveling, I made it home from Bali. What an experience!
I met some really incredible women. Strong women that reminded me how important it is to be yourself.
I also met a lot of lovely Balinese women whose smiles lit up a room. And their skin! To die for!
My last couple of days were quiet. The people from the tour had left and I was there by myself. I spent a lot of time in the pool. I read magazines, took photos and met some wonderful people. People from Australia, Colombia, and Germany.
I took a walk down the street to a market one afternoon. It was so nice. There were a couple of vendors on the street selling food. As I passed they were so friendly. They asked if I would like something. I told them "no, thank you". Instead of asking if I was sure, they smiled and told me to have a wonderful day. They didn't push at all.
I also spent time at the spa. I had my first body wrap. Wasn't sure what to expect but it was really nice. Forty-eight stairs down a spiral staircase to get to the spa. Well worth it! Before and after any treatments they serve you tea. After the treatment you get cookies with your tea.
When I was in the pool (it was a very nice infinity pool) these little birds kept joining me. They looked like miniature bald eagles. I looked it up and I "think" it's a white headed munia. I'm not positive though. If this is correct, they are only found in Southeast Asia. The temperature was 91 degrees but the heat index said it felt like 111.
Every morning as I left my room and walked down the hall, I was greeted by an adorable little salamander. He was on the back of one of the panels that led to the outside. He was there every morning without fail.
I definitely missed Jim while I was gone but we talked often and filled each other in on what was going on. And of course the cats. We had to get a cat sitter since Jim was out a few days going caving. One of my yoga instructors is also a pet sitter and was able to come by to feed them and give them some lovin' (Thank you, Kelly!).
Below are some of the final photos (out of the thousands I took). I don't know that I have ever slowed down as much as I did on this trip and I feel like I have changed a little. I'm relaxed - even though the jet lag sucks!
Thanks to those of you who have been reading my blogs. I write them for myself but I do love sharing my stories. Especially when they're as fun as this one.
Til next time!
Love,
Ruthie 🩶
