Weekly Wandering - In Nashville - April 12

Yet another fun filled week in the Nashville area. Last week I was sitting at work looking out the window. I was working from one of our downtown buildings and had a great view of one of the busiest intersections of Lower Broadway. aka - party town. I took a few moments and watched the insanity. It's actually quite fun. Or funny. I'm not sure which. I can hear the music and the people from the office I am in. Everyone is having a great time. The pedal bars go by with everyone drinking and pedaling, the roofless bus goes by with everyone wearing a "60th Birthday" shirt.

The musicians can be seen carrying (or rolling) their instruments around. I'm sure they are very happy now that things are opening up again. They work so hard for the little bit of money they make. It's nice to see them carrying their gear around again. And in the background, the construction of high rise office buildings continues.

And of course there are the homeless people that can be seen walking around asking for money. They meld in with the crowd just trying to survive. I often wonder what their stories are. How did they get to where they are. I watched an older man walk past the window. I was on the second floor looking down at the street. He couldn't see me. I wonder what his name is. Does he have family. He was carrying what looked to be a paper grocery bag. Is that all he has in the world? Everyone out there on the street is so busy. Does anyone ever really look at them and find out what their story is. I stand and watch the insanity just a little bit longer and then dive back into work. I'll think about these people again as I head home and have to cross over Broadway. Always and interesting drive.

I also went to a vendor event held at TopGolf. This is the second time in my life I have been to a TopGolf event and I really think I'm starting to like it. Now trust me, I have no idea what I am doing. I just think it's fun to hit the balls. Or try to. At one point someone told me it was time to aim for one of the other big holes ... or nets... or whatever they are called. I looked at him and said, "We're supposed to be aiming?" . I was completely serious and he almost fell out of his chair laughing. I thought we were supposed to be trying to hit the ball as far as we could. So much for me being picked to be on a team!

Over the weekend, we went to Fall Creek Falls. One of our favorite State Parks. Jim had a Tennessee Cave Survey (TCS) meeting there so I went along. The meeting was held outdoor under a pavillion. Thank goodness! I rained about 90% of the time during the meeting. However, after the meeting the rain stopped. We started talking to a lady and her dog and found out she is friends with one of our friends. She had never been to the park so we took her around the park to see all the waterfalls. We had a great time and once we left, Jim and I took the long way home. We enjoy taking the back roads as often as possible and it was a beautiful day to do it.

Later that evening I ran to the store. On my way home, I saw one of the beautiful sunsets we have here. Tennessee truly has everything from a bustling downtown with drinking and loud music and crazy people to the wonder of a stunning waterfall.

Tennessee does not suck!

Peace and Love to All!
